About MCEL


The Montana Conference of Education Leadership is jointly planned and provided by the Montana Association of School Business Officials, Montana Rural Education Association, Montana School Boards Association, and School Administrators of Montana.

MCEL is the largest annual conference for education leaders in the state, routinely drawing over 500 people focused on the role of leadership in Montana’s Public Schools and providing unique opportunities for networking and collaborating with elected trustees, school administrators, school business officials, and others.

Montana Association of School Business Officials (MASBO)

MASBO is dedicated to empowering school business leaders in Montana through education, aiming to equip its members with the skills necessary to effectively manage business operations in support of education for Montana children. Originating in 1968 from a small group of passionate school business professionals and sponsored by the Montana School Boards Association, MASBO's initial goal was to standardize school accounting and provide practical knowledge in all areas of school business administration. Since then, MASBO has adapted to the changing landscape of school business management, expanding its educational programs to offer tailored solutions that address modern challenges. Through initiatives like its voluntary certification program introduced in 1987, MASBO ensures its members meet the highest standards of excellence, underscoring its commitment to fostering efficiency and professionalism in school business management.

Montana Rural Education Association (MREA)

The Montana Rural Education Association (MREA) is dedicated to addressing all facets of the K-12 public education system across rural Montana. Advocating for educational equality and opportunity as constitutional rights for all Montana students, regardless of their geographic location, MREA collaborates with various educational organizations and groups to enhance the educational experience of rural Montana students.

Montana School Boards Association (MTSBA)

Established on October 10, 1926, through the collective efforts of dedicated volunteer trustees representing communities across Montana, the Montana School Boards Association (MTSBA) stands as a beacon of nonpartisan commitment. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization, we are dedicated to developing the full potential of each child in every public school through school board leadership.

 

Serving as a vital resource hub, MTSBA caters to the diverse needs of over 1,500 elected trustees and their essential personnel within Montana's public schools. Our comprehensive suite of professional services extends unwavering support to every publicly elected K-12 school board, fostering an environment conducive to holistic educational development statewide.

School Administrators of Montana (SAM)

Comprising over 1,000 members, the School Administrators of Montana (SAM) serves as the voice for administrators in Montana, representing their interests, aspirations, and professional leadership. Through six affiliate associations, SAM fosters networking opportunities and offers support to school leaders striving to deliver the highest quality education to every student in the state. SAM operates as a member-led organization, providing instructional leaders with the strategies, resources, and tools necessary to advocate for student success.
